Description This paper presents the results and discussion of the finite element analysis of a buried cylindrical structure made of SIFCON. The analysis is carried out using advanced FEM based software, ANSYS. Based on the available data for the material and geometry, the full scale buried structure is modelled for unit length. The soil properties are adopted from the available literature, and Winkler’s model is used to account for soil effects. Analysis is carried out to obtain the response of the buried cylindrical structure for soil pressure including static equivalent loading as obtained from dynamic load factor consideration. This study will be useful for the analysis and design of buried structures.
