Description |
The paper discusses on the suggested modifications to the wind Code, IS: 875 (Part 3) 1989, and their background information. The basic wind speed of India recommended in the
existing code is re-analysed and revised by SERC in light of additional wind data made
available by IMD since 1982. One of the main features of the suggested modification is to
include empirical expressions for a number of parameters particularly relating to dynamic
analysis. Based on recent R&D investigations in the boundary layer wind tunnel, on square
and rectangular prisms of tall building models SERC has studied across wind force
parameters and distributions of force spectra and developed empirical expressions for the
same. Further, occupant comfort levels in tall slender buildings are addressed for which no
guidelines are available in the present Code.
