Description A wind tunnel study on pressure measurements on a 1:200 scale model of a coal shed with open gable end walls has been carried out. The model has been instrumented with pressure taps over the roof surface. Dynamic pressures have been measured for different angles of wind incidence ranging from θ = 0˚ to 360˚ in steps of 30˚ intervals. All the data have been collected for a reference mean velocity of 12 m/s at the crown of the model. Results on mean and standard deviation of external and internal pressure coefficients are presented and discussed for the three important angles of wind incidence, i.e., flow parallel to the axis of the arch (θ = 0°), diagonal (θ = 315°) and normal (θ = 270°), which are more important from design point of view. A procedure has been suggested for suitable combination of mean and fluctuating external and internal pressure coefficients to compute the peak load effects.
