The objective of this paper is to present an approach for relating the various stages of damage to drift and Peak Ground Acceleration (PGA). The defined performance levels and their relationship to drift would serve as performance based objectives in the performance evaluation procedure. The procedure is illustrated with an example. The push over analysis results are related to the dynamic performance of the structure for helping in the performance evaluation. Combining these two, it is possible to assess the damage potential of a new design for prescribed performance
