Description Unsteady aerodynamics is gaining considerable importance in this country, however, the physics of such flows is not well understood, especially since experimentation is not easy. It is necessary to not only to conduct experiments in unsteady flows but also to develop expertise in experimentation in such flows. This can be achieved by wind tunnel experiments on an oscillating airfoil. Full flow field measurements using phase locked PIV were conducted on an oscillating airfoil in the low speed wind tunnel on an oscillating airfoil at a free stream velocity was 28 m/s (Rec = 0.4x106). The airfoil was oscillated using scotch-yoke mechanism. PIV measurements were made at different angles both up stroke and down stroke. The mean flow field velocity data clearly show the formation of the dynamic vortex, its growth and its shedding. An interesting feature is that the measurements revealed a secondary vortex at the maximum angle.
