suitably substituted oleļ¬ns unexpectedly undergo intramolecular
cyclisation during silica gel chromatography to generate
pyrido[2,3-d]pyrimidines. Various reaction conditions
arestudiedandthealterednatureoftheuracilamidinemoleculeisfurtherexploredbyreactingitwithdifferentsuitably
substituted alkenes
