Description Studies on marine biogeochemical cycles form an important component in coupled ocean-atmosphere models for climate studies. The major challenges in marine biogeochemical modelling are the identification of the ecosystem compartments and the underlying biogeochemical processes and their parametrizations, model-data comparisons and data assimilation studies. As a part of these studies, 3D simulations based on the biological model of Fasham et al (1990) and chemical model of Peng et al (1987) coupled to a physical oceanographic model (Sarmiento et al., 1993) were performed at CMMACS. We report here the results of the effect of biology on the carbon flux across airsea interface in Indian Ocean and compare them with observations.
