Description |
The phenomenon of loss of flow properties in free flowing solids upon the addition of a liquid, has been applied to determine the total pore-volume of the residual cokes obtained from the Gray-King carbonization test. A single determination of the pore volume by this method takes 15 minutes and very simple equipment is needed. The results obtained show a gradual decrease in pore volume from A to G types of coke. This method has been particularly valuable in cases of types lower than E. it can therefore be of particular value in the blending of weakly caking coals. The present investigation is being continued.
