Description A method has been developed for the synthesis of γ-butyrolactone substituted cinnamyl type Aldol condensation products under milder proline and triethylamine basic conditions. The antioxidant activity of all the synthesized compounds was assessed using three different assays. The cinnamyl type derivatives of γ-butyrolactone bearing an -OH group in the benzene ring exhibited excellent antioxidant activity.
