Description A portable and reusable special core liner (spcl) has been developed to accomplish real-time sub-sampling of aqueous sediments. Besides being revolutionary, inexpensive and user-friendly, the spcl is capable of collecting undisturbed sediment sub-sections. The spcl also facilitates rapid sub-sampling of sediments onboard with remote possibility of core shortening, sample outflow, contamination or mixing. The proposed method of sub-sampling by spcl saves time, money and manpower, without inducing changes in the physical and biogeochemical properties of the sediments.
