Description |
Cr(III)-Sn(IV) doped indium oxide was prepared from a polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) based composite foam material by sol-gel processing. The composite foam, initially prepared at similar to 100 degrees C, was further baked at three different temperatures (400 degrees C, 600 degrees C and 800 degrees C) to generate a porous oxide material with different morphologies by burning away the organic compounds. The detailed study of the oxide specimens is reported here. Elemental analyses of the specimens were performed and their empirical formula and unit cell structures are evaluated therefrom. The bonding nature in the moieties is determined by the study of Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The electrical parameters, such as resistivity and conductivity, are evaluated by a two-probe method. Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) highlight the temperature-dependent morphological properties, which are supported by the Rietveld analysis based on the XRD pattern and also by the evaluated thermodynamic parameters obtained from DSC measurements. A weak ferromagnetic property at 5 K was observed for the 400 degrees C and 600 degrees C heated products.
