Description A series of Fe supported tunsgtataed zirconia catalysts were prepared by slurry impregnation method from Iron nitrate and sulfate precursors followed by Pt impregnation. Decrease in BET surface area and no change in zirconia crystalline phases has been observed upon Fe and Pt addition on WZ. Microcalorimetric measurements of ammonia adsorption indicate the generation of strong acid sites DH 162 kJ/mol on Fe-WZ that may be are responsible for the high activity of the catalyst. Decreasing trend of acid strength distribution was found on Pt promoted Fe-WZ. Addition of iron to Pt/WZ increases the activity and selectivity of the catalyst in isomerization of n-pentane. The selectivities to ipentane > 98% have been observed. KEYWORDS: Tunstated zirconia, Pt supported Fe-WZ, Isomerization, n-pentane,i-pentane
