Description |
A simple VAV - 382B /IIP method was developed for
---evaluation of the Shock load performance of GL-4 and
GL-S type of automotive gear oils. This method
differentiatesvery well the gear oil performance in terms
of pass/ fail limits. The efficacy of this method was
studied using a large number of commercial gear oil
samplesof GL-4 and GL-S level oils and these pass/fail
limitswere confirmed. Hence, there is a need to reaffirm
the pass/ fail limits by using ASTM Reference gear oils
used for CEC-L-42 test. The paper presents the work
carriedout in this direction.
