Description |
A combination of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), gelatin and a commercial surfactant has been studied
statistically as the suspension stabilizer used in suspension polymerization. From the individual effect
of. the ingredients on surface-tension with varying temperature of the suspending medium, a 23
factorial design was presented. Experimental data of the 8 treatment combinations were analyzed
through the analysis of error variance and byformulating polynomials for both the response factors.
The analysis of variance and polynomials, suggests that for surface tension the factor due to surfactant
was worth including in such studies. For viscosity, however, no definite conclusion could be
drawn except that the significanceof thefactors may be in the orderof PVA > surfactant) gelatin.
It was also noted that if the limit of the concentration levels of these factors be widened by an
amount of 30%, the response factors become significant.
