Description Effect of the asphaltic material (separated from the long residue of Virajcrude oil) on the burning characteristics ofpetroleumproductswithrespectto OJ Horizontaluminousintensity/efficiencyusingHurricanelanternand(ii) Thermalefficiency of wick stove, were determin~d by taking kerosene as a blending stock for asphaltic material. For the measurement the luminous intensity/efficiency the concentration of the added asphaltic material was varied from 0.08 to 0.56% whereas in case of thermal efficiency it was varied from O.12 to 0.22%. It has been observed that the addition of asphaltic material adversely affect the luminous intensity/efficiency as well as thermal efficiency of kerosene, which indicates that the p!Jtroleumproducts used for burning and illumination purposes should be free from such material. KEYWORDS: Kerosene, Luminus intensity, ThermalEfficiency, Fuel Consumption, Asphaltenes.
