Description |
Molybdenum salts of phosphoro thio derivatives of pentadecyl phenol and
lauryl oleate of specific composition have been synthesised in the laboratory.
The friction & wear characteristics of these derivatives in mineral Qil blends
were determined on four ball wear tester and SRV Friction machine.
It has been found that the friction and wear properties of thiophospho
molybdates are distinct.y better than their thio analogues and.both oxy
molbydenum phosphorothioates and its thio analogue lauryl oleate phospho
molybdate possess outstanding antiwear & antifriction characteristics.
The study indicates the importance of bonding between phosphorus sulfur and
molybdenum motives in organic phosphoro thio derivatives for reducing friction
and wear between rubbing surfaces,
