Description Waxes and hydrocarbon type constituents have been separated from a heavy neutral base stock (boiling range 286-6120C)&its three-distillate fractions. These components have been characterized for their physical properties and structural composition and viscosity temperature relationship alongwith the parent base stock. It has been observed that composition of waxes and hydrocarbon type constituents significantly controls the low temperature rheologicalproperties of these samples. Theboiling range of the fraction has a great dependence on its physical properties. The average chain length determined by GC compares well with those determined by 1H NMR .The X-ray analysis indicated that they are crystalline in nature. Keywords: Base Oil Hydrocarbon Composition, Carbon Number Distribution, X-Ray Diffraction, Viscosity Temperature.
