Description Wind load estimation on large parabolic dish antennas with several panels of wire meshes/perforated sheets is generally complex owing to its curved shape with respect to various angles of wind incidence and porosity. In this study detailed experimental investigations were conducted for evaluating the mean drag and lift coefficients of (i) wire mesh 6 mm x 6 mm x 0.5 mm and (ii) perforated sheet. The solidity ratio of the wire mesh was about 17% and that of the perforated sheet was about 68%. A maximum value of 1.025 was obtained for the mean drag coefficient for the case of wire mesh, when the flow was normal to the panel ( θ = 0° and β = 90° ). The maximum lift coefficient was equal to 0.375, corresponding to ( θ = 0° and β = 90° ). Similarly for the case of perforated sheet, corresponding mean drag and lift coefficient values are 1.65 and 1.095 respectively.
