Depth of overburden varies significantly in Delhi region, from zero meters(rockoutcrop) to more than 300 m. In this paper an attempt has been made to check the adequacy of current Indian seismic code of practice provision for framed building located at Delhi due to a long distance large magnitude earthquake (moment magnitude 8.5 from central seismic gap).
