Description Steel fibre reinforced concrete (SFRC) is increasingly finding application as a construction material. SFRC is a concrete made of hydraulic cements with aggregates and reinforced with discrete steel fibres. Investigations were carried out on the use of steel fibres in structural members in combination with conventional reinforcements. Three types of Indian made steel fibres were used in these investigations. It has been found that the addition fibres to concrete sustainability increased the ductility of the concrete and that SFRC beams showed an increase in the ultimate load when compared to companion RC beams.
