Description A comparative study of the two apparatus has been made. In the range of temperatures studied, the value obtained in the Blakeley-Cobb apparatus are in the range of 0.98 of the values obtained in the A.S.T.M. apparatus. Deviations are appreciable in the case of dense brick and of siliceous insulation brick at a mean temperature of 100°C. While more work is necessary to establish relationship of the values obtained with the Blakeley-Cobb apparatus with those from the A.S.T.M. apparatus, it may be suggested that the Blakeley-Cobb apparatus can be used as a routine check apparatus by the manufacturers.
