Description From the fluid flow viewpoint, the lower part of an ironmaking blast furnace is very important as gas, liquid, fines and solid flow occur there simultaneously posing a big challenge to run the furnace smoothly. These flow ultimately affect the heat and mass transfer processes which are occurring in the furnace and hence the productivity of it. Therefore, a multi-phase flow model has been developed to study the effect of mainly those parameters which have not been studied until now like the effect of raceway size, shape, non-wetting liquid flow etc. Based on this model some important results are being presented and discussed here.
