Description Direct normal irradiance (DNI), ambient temperature, latitude effect, wind velocity, air quality, etc. are various external-natural factors that influence efficiency of solar photovoltaics (SPV), whereas materials used, technology adopted, etc. are important internal design parameters that enhance efficiency of SPV. The recent development in the field of materials engineering and technology may create a revolution in the field of SPV if harnessed techno-economically. In the back drop of these developments, this article dwells upon the material issues like aluminium (Al) nano particles, birefringent liquid crystal polymer homeotropic films, and technological issues like utilisation of acoustic vibrations using piezo-electric material, radiative recombination, generation of pulses using pyroelectric materials, etc. to enhance efficiency and the effectiveness of SPV. The article is followed by suggestions and possible applications in real life situations and concluding lines. The article is just a humble attempt from the academic point of view in the field of SPV.
