Description |
Agglomeration of fines as is an important activity in ore preparation for steel industries. One of the agglomeration process is pelletization which involves binding of very fine ore in form of pellets or small balls. Along with fine ore, fluxes such as limestone or limes and binder such as bentonite or organic binder such as starch are added. Pelletization consists of three stages- balling, firing and cooling of hardened pellets. In the present work a mathematical model for the above process has been developed. Furnace dimensions, bed properties, inlet air and gas compositions were provided as input parameters and bed temperature profile, Off-gas properties were calculated for all the zones. The model can provide an effective tool for the analysis and design of iron ore pellet induration techniques.
