Description |
In automotive engineering, the disc brake is a device for slowing or stopping the rotation of a wheel. The brake pads is forced against the both sides of the rotating disc by mechanically, pneumatically and hydraulically to stop the wheel. A disc brakes are bare to huge thermal stresses during repetitive braking and strange thermal stresses during hard braking. During this investigation, the finite element models of the disc brake are created using Pro-E software with three different materials and simulated using ANSYS workbench 14.5 software is based on the Finite Element Method. In this work to determine the structural analysis displacement, ultimate stress limit and thermal analysis, thermal gradients, heat flux, heat flow rates for the different material of the disc. A comparison of displacement, Nodal temperature, thermal gradients and thermal flux can be done for the three different materials. This result shows the best structural and thermal analysis were found in the Carbon Ceramic Matrix material.
