Description Doppler Weather Radomes (DWR) are wind based advanced early warning systems against cyclones employed by IMD along the coastal regions of Indian Subcontinent, including the one at Visakhapatnam. As such, there exists merely six at the moment, although it appears that the eastern region is populated well enough by overlapping DWRs. It is however envisioned that more of such systems along every coastal towns may be deployed for better modeling and prediction methods as well as to build up redundancies, in eventualities. Thus, there is a need to build cost-effective dome structures for scale-up of DWR systems. DWR radome structure is generally designed and built out of GFRP material. The present research focuses on the application of bamboo mat board material (BMB) for this purpose. The chosen modern material is not only natural and bio-degradable, it manifests in many other advantages, including the frugality of the innovation. Both in meeting the design criteria and the structural analysis, we observe that the BMB based material fares very well. The paper presents some of the conceptual designs and criteria considerations along with salient fluid-structure analyses as well as the cost effectiveness of the dome structure.
