| Description |
A composition for making lightweight ceramic articles, a process for making the same, and articles made using the composition, are disclosed. The synergistic composition has fibrous materials which are of similar composition to that of the main ceramic articles and a compatible composition is worked out so that the fiber continues to provide strength to the green article through out the intermediate stages from green up to the stage when ceramic bonds of sufficient strength are developed. The lightweight ceramic articles made from the composition and process, are such as translucent ceramic whiteware product, translucent ceramic bone China product and translucent vitreous ceramic whiteware product having a water sorbency of less than 0.5%.
