Description 767-772
Electrochemical behaviour of 2-[4'-(substituted) sulphonamoyl- phenyl]hydrazono ethyl-2-cyanoethanoate (SHEC) in Britton-Robinson buffers (pH 2.05-10.5) showed that all SHECs gave a single reduction wave at dropping mercury electrode. Cyclic voltammograms exhibited a well defined irreversible cathodic peak at glassy carbon electrode. On the basis of DC, differential pulse polarography and cyclic voltammetry, a reaction mechanism has been suggested. Kinetic parameters [charge transfer coefficient (<img src='/image/spc_char/alpha.gif' border=0>na), forward rate constant (k°f,h) and diffusion-coefficient] have been calculated by polarographic and cyclic voltammetric methods. A plausible mechanism has also been suggested on the basis of protons involved in rate determining step and number of electrons involved in reduction process.
