Description 319-326
A group of 5-thiazolidinone derivatives<b> </b>based dyestuffs have been synthesized and investigated1. This paper describes the possibility of using carbon for their removal, as organic pollutants, from aqueous solutions. The removal of these dyestuffs from their aqueous solutions is carried out by using different adsorbent such as granular activated carbon (GAC), carbon soot (CS) and powdered activated carbon (PAC) at different temperatures 25oC, 40oC, 50oC and 60oC. Kinetics and mass transfer studies are carried out by applying different models such as Lagergren, Weber-Morris, Langmuir and Freundlish. Different kinetic parameters (<i>Kad</i> ‎, <i>Kp</i>, <i>a</i>, <i>b</i>, <i>RL</i>, <i>n</i>, <i>K</i>) are calculated from these models. The thermodynamic parameters (<i>Ea*, </i><i><img src='/image/spc_char/delta.gif' border=0></i><i>H*</i>, <i><img src='/image/spc_char/delta.gif' border=0></i><i>S*</i> and <i><img src='/image/spc_char/delta.gif' border=0></i><i>G*</i>) are also calculated for the interpretation of the adsorption process.
