The sulfonyl activated olefin, <i style="mso-bidi-font-style:normal">E</i>-1-(arylsulfonylethylsulfonyl)-2-arylethene <b style="mso-bidi-font-weight:normal">7</b> has been used as a synthon to develop a new class of pyrrole and pyrazole derivatives by 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition of TosMIC and diazomethane.
