Description Nanocrystalline CaCu 3 Ti 4 O 12 was synthesized by a sol–gel reaction route. The sample was calcined at 700 C and sintered at 1025 C. Phase identification and structural analysis were carried out using XRD, HRTEM and SEM. Dielectric measurement was carried out by applying 1 volt ac input signal and 1 volt dc bias voltage in the frequency range of 10 Hz to 5 MHz. Impedance spectroscopy was used to find out the polarization mechanism existing at grain regime. The results revealed that the dielectric polarization is associated with grains, grain boundaries and electrode-ceramic interface. The calculated capacitance values are in the range of nano farads, resistance values are of the order of mega ohms and dipole relaxation time values are from milli to micro seconds. It was observed that the grain’s dipoles are more compatible with applied signal than that of grain boundary. The signature of leakage current in the range of micro-ampere is also observed.
