Description Steels are a broad group of alloys under ferrous category. The alloy itself has wonderful versatility in terms of its composition, mechanical properties and manufacturing technique. It fulfills most of the requirement that is necessary to cater the need of engineering applications, which involve strength, toughness, formability, weldability, durability, availability and cost effectiveness. Steel has high stiffness which results in light structure having high rigidity in bending and torsion. Steel structures thus have excellent shape stability. Toughness of steel is quite high in comparison to other structural materials and one of the important parameters to explore de-generation during service exploitation.
