Description The variations in microstructure of line pipe steel (Grade X60) lead to significant changes in its corrosion behavior. Use of any particular steel for a given environment needs a robust data bank through which life predictions of components can be made confidently to avoid catastrophic failure. In the present endeavor, an adaptive neuro fuzzy based model is proposed to study the effect of microstructural variation on the performance of the candidate steel. This model has been verified with the experimental findings. The developed model will be a useful tool to justify the acceptance/rejection of the alloy on a commercial scale.
