Description |
Pure aluminium has low strength, hence it cannot be used readily for many applications. Hence, alloying elements are added to aluminium to enhance its strength. Aluminium alloys due to its high strength to weight ratio can be used for many applications. The 2xxx series contained copper as the main alloying element whereas 7xxx series contained zinc as the main alloying element.
