The title reaction has been investigated under pseudo-unimolecular conditions with [phen] > [HSO<img src='/image/spc_char/3_bar.gif' border=0>] > [Fe(III)]. The reaction obeys first order kinetics in [Fe(III)]. The kinetics is interpreted in terms of an inner-sphere reduction of Fe(phen)<img src='http://www.niscair.res.in/jinfo/equation28.gif' border=0> via formation of the reactive intermediate Fe(phen)<sub>2</sub>-(SO<sub>3</sub>H)<sup>2+</sup>. |
