Vibrational relaxation studies have been performed on solutions of dimethyl sulphoxide (DMSO) With various protic and aprotic solvents and metal perchlorates. Vibrational relaxation times are calculate using isotropic part of the Raman spectra of these solutions for symmetric CH<sub>3</sub> stretching and C - S stretching vibrations. The results are interpreted in terms of interactions of DMSO with neighbouring molecules and ions. |
