Description 910-912
The critical micelle concentration, degree dissociation d dissociation constant of dilute solutions of chromium soaps (myristate, palmitate and stearate) in benzene- ethanol mixture have been determined by conductivity measurements. The results show that these soaps behave as weak electrolytes in dilute solutions. The various thermodynamic parameter shave been evaluated for both dissociation and micellization processes which indicate that the micellization process is favoured over the dissociation process. The spectro-photometric results showed that the metal-to-oxygen bonds in chromium soaps are not purely ionic but have some covalent character.
