Description 857-860
Copper catalysts supported on SiO2, A12O3, MgO, ZrO2, TiO2 (anatase) and TiO2 (rutile) with 15 wt% copper loading have been prepared by wet impregnation method. The catalysts calcined at 400ᵒC have been characterized for BET surface area, NH, chemisorption at room temperature and adsorptive decomposition of nitrous oxide at 90ᵒC by pulse technique. The activities of the catalysts have been tested at a reaction temperature of 250°C for the selective conversion of cyclohexanol to cyclohexanone. The selectivities to cyclohexanone and cyclohexene have been found to depend on the acidity of the catalysts. The cyclohexanone selectivity directly correlates with copper area, which is a measure of dispersion of copper on the supports.
