A simple, rapid and direct spectrophotometric method has been developed for the spectrophotometric determination of cobalt(II). The molar absorptivity of the complex is 3.0 x 10<sup>4</sup> 1 mol<sup>-1</sup>cm<sup>-1</sup>. Various parameters including the concentration of ATG, effect of <em>p</em>H and diverse ions have been studied to optimize the determination of cobalt in alloys and pharmaceutical samples.
