Description 952-955
The 137Cs sorption capacity of the hydrothermally synthesised gel close to KMg3(Si3AlO10)F2 has investigated by radiochemical technique at room temperature. The radiometric and analytical on concentration and time dependence of the selective uptake of cesium onto the hydrothermal gel are reported. The 137Cs selectivity has been examined in presence of 500 times concentrated sons of Na+, K+, Mg2+, Ca2+, Sr2+ and Ba2+. The cesium uptake has been expressed in terms of sorption (%) and distribution coefficient (Kd). The data suggests that the gel could exhibit good cesium retention capacity when it is mixed with ordinary portland cement as an additive for solidification of radioactive cesium. Large cations like K+ and Ba2+ are found to be more competing than Na+ and Mg2+ which have comparatively smaller ionic radii.
