Moelywyn-Huggins concept of interactions between the molecular surfaces of the components of a binary mixture [Huggins M L, <em>Polymer, </em>12 (1971) 389] has been extended to develop an approach reproduces well the molar excess volume <em>V</em><sup>E</sup> and molar excess enthalpy <em>H</em><sup>E</sup> data of 2-propanone- tribromomethane-<em>n</em>-alkane ternary and their sub-binary mixtures. The ternary <em>V</em><sup>F</sup> and <em>H</em><sup>E</sup> data, calculated by the present approach, co pare better with their corresponding experimental values the corresponding <em>V</em><sup>E</sup> and <em>H</em><sup>E</sup> data evaluated for these mixtures by the more involved non-electrolyte associated solution model approach. |
