Oxothiovanadates of the types M<sup>1</sup>VO<sub>2</sub>S.H<sub>2</sub>O (where M = K<sup>+</sup>, Rb<sup>+</sup> and Na<sup>+</sup>) and NaVOS<sub>2</sub>.2H<sub>2</sub>O have been isolated and characterised. The TGA data reveal loss of H<sub>2</sub>S from these compounds. The complexes of the type M<sup>1</sup>VO<sub>2</sub>S.H<sub>2</sub>O (where M = K<sup>+</sup> & Rb<sup>+</sup>) yield MV<sub>3</sub>O<sub>8</sub>S and M<img src='http://www.niscair.res.in/jinfo/1bythree.gif' border=0>VO<sub>3</sub> on heating. The IR data reveal the presence of V = O and V = S bonds. The X-ray powder patterns are also reported. |
