Description |
Preventive maintenance of mine machineries requires hard facing to increase and utilize remaining life. Abrasion resistance is key property in mines to handle minerals. Wear and abrasion in surfaced state is decisive on base metal, filler metal, composite constituents and technique of deposition. Difference in microstructure is more important to wear than hardness. Process parameters in welding technique are more important to hardness. Wear resistance of hard face depends on composite particulate size, shape, distribution and grain sizes of matrix, e.g.dendritic weld structure consisting austenite and eutectic carbides. TiN coated by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) on alumina (Al2 O3), zirconia (ZrO2) and silicon carbide (SiC) are substitute of fused tungsten carbide (FTC) in metal matrix composites (MMC) applicable for hardfacing technology.
