Description Selective laser sintering is one of the most widely accepted additive manufacturing technologies in industry presently. Started commercially in 1989, it has evolved from mere a prototyping tool to entirely a new domain of manufacturing. It saves time, resources, effort and qualifies to be a green manufacturing technology. Another factor which contributes to its worldwide acceptance is its ability to handle almost any material. This feature makes this technology more versatile and complex whenever a new material is introduced. This paper surveys the different aspects of this technology and portraits the significance of selective laser sintering components in terms of its ability to process the materials.
