Description India is fast emerging as an important global player in the casting sector of metallurgical industry. This is mainly due to the stringent pollution control standards in the developed countries and the exponential growth in automobile and machine tool sectors within the country. There is also a growing awareness regarding pollution control levels in India in recent times and this is perceived as a threat to the existence of these small-scale foundry units scattered in various parts of the country. Attempt has been made to carry out research and development work on developing an eco-friendly cokeless cupola and also a gas cleaning plant for coke based cupola of Various modules/sizes ranging from 2 to 20 ton/ ha. This paper discusses the results obtained from techno-economic analysis and pollution management of coke based dry gas cleaning plant, wet gas cleaning plant and cokeless cupola.
