Description |
The field-consistency approach permits a fuller understanding of the problems relating to the development of simple but efficient and accurate finite element models of shear deformable plate elements. In this paper we derive the anisotropic layered form of a recent modification of the well known 8-noded serendipity plate element with five degrees of freedom at each node, the inplane displacements u and v, the transverse displacement w; and section rotations 0(x) and 0(y). The element offered here is free of locking and should be the simplest displacement type version of this element. Its convergence properties are insensitive to thickness ratio and degree of anisotropy.
