Description The geochemical sedimentation processes active in and around the Carlsberg ridge area of the Indian Ocean have been synthesized. From the available information it is evident that hydrogenetic sedimentation process is most predominant among all other processes active in this region. While the geochemistry and mineralogy of the ferromanganese deposits from this area indicated hydrogenetic input, the sediment geochemistry and presence of Pteropod at some location from the adjacent Arabian basin indicated signatures of hydrothermal input.
