Description |
Discussion of a digital telemetry data transmission technique designed as a more accurate alternative to common analog data transmission techniques which are sensitive to variations in transmission path characteristics. The key feature of the proposed technique is a simple digital data transmitter providing linear telemetry. The transmitter contains a mixer, a triangular wave generator operating as a local oscillator and another triangular wave generator operating as a voltage-controlled oscillator. A transducer controls the input of the second generator, and the mixer circuit of the system produces difference-frequency signals in the form of binary digits which are proportional to the transducer output. Details on the operation of this system are given.
