Description |
Components of the failed 35 HP rotor assembly of Wankel engine were analyzed. Fractographic study revealed that fatigue fracture of the locating pins led to overload failure of the rotor. Analysis suggests that use of pins without threading would prevent premature fatigue failure of the pins.
