Description |
The filter bag used in the pipeline to ECS of an aircraft (with silencer filled with glass wool) was investigated for particles, present, if any. Examination revealed presence of particles in the size range 2-17 m with a population of 10-20 particles/mm2. Compositional analysis showed that these particles were oxides of Si, Al, Ca, K, Fe, Ti and Mg. Based on the comparative study carried out on an unused filter, the filter used in PV2 aircraft (without glass wool silencer) and the glass wool, it appears that the particles observed in the filter bag of pipeline to ECS of the aircraft are the dust particles present in the atmosphere and not from the glass wool used in the silencer. A detailed analysis is presented in this report.
